When people embark on a book writing journey, especially first time authors, they tend to want to get started right away. They are full of the beginner’s enthusiasm and who can blame them. It has probably taken them ages to pluck up the courage to get started so they don’t want to have to hold back anymore. And yet, as a book coach, I need to say that there is a lot of ground work that needs to be done if you want solid foundations for your writing journey. No one signs up for a marathon and just turns up on the day, unless they are my Dad but that’s a story for another day.

Over my twenty years career as an author, I have developed a process that includes seven golden steps to get started with your book, before you even write the first word. Here it is mapped out for you (to save you some of the mistakes that I made along the way):

Step 1 – Connect to the energy of your book

Step 2 – Find your why

Step 3 – Shine a light on your fears

Step 4 – Find your Write O’Clock

Step 5 – Create your sacred writing space

Step 6 – Write your elevator pitch

Step 7 – Commit

I detail those seven steps in my podcast today but if you want to have more support in establishing those foundations, I am running a free seven day email challenge starting on the 15th of April 2019. This is the last time I will be running this challenge for free, so hop over and join us. The person who is the most engaged in the challenge and who shares their “homework” for each day on my page will be entered in a draw to win my meditation for authors boxset. Click here to sign up and feel free to share this post with anyone you know who may benefit from it. Have a great day.
